On January 7, 2018, I will begin a several-week class on white privilege, based on a new curriculum developed by staff at the national setting of the UCC.
We will meet after worship for about an hour a couple of times a month – dodging Council and PULSE Sundays!
Before each class there will be material to read which we will then discuss; materials will be available on the Information Table the Sunday prior to each class.
I hope many of you will plan to join me in the Community Room as we continue our Sacred Conversation on Race.
Hopefully this discussion will challenge us to see the privilege in our lives so we can begin to help dismantle it and therefore commit ourselves to social transformation.
“This material will focus on White Privilege as seen through the lens of Black/White divisions in America,” according to one of its authors, the Reverend John Dorhauer, General Minister and President of the UCC. “The plan is to develop more material that will deal with privilege as filtered through the lenses of other disadvantaged communities.”
If you plan to attend, please add your name to the sign-up sheet on the Information Table so I know how many copies we will need.
