As a congregation we are committed to loving our neighbors and doing what we can to contribute to a world in which everyone is seen, heard, and has enough. We have various special collections and events throughout the year and partner with other churches and organizations in the area as specific needs arise. In addition to these assorted short-term activities, our Missions Team organizes a couple of ongoing programs as well.
Gas Cards for the Community
It’s no secret that making ends meet is a challenge for a whole lot of us. While the causes of this struggle are many and varied, the simple fact remains that folks need to be able to get to work, to the doctor’s office, to a child’s school, … you get the picture. Gas money can be hard to come by when rent and utilities take a majority of your monthly income.
To address this need, we offer gas cards ($20) to community members on a first-to-come is first-served basis. Each person may receive one card per month, currently, and we typically budget for 30 cards each month–enough for 30 individuals.
We are continuing to investigate transportation needs in Angola and what other ways we may be able to offer assistance.
Monday Suppers for Trine Students
Every Monday evening from 5 to 6 we serve a free meal to Trine Students. No sermon, just supper.
These meals help us get to know our collegiate neighbors, practice hospitality, and learn about the needs and interests of local young adults.
Oh, and to eat well!
