From The Pastor’s Screen – November 2019

Dear Friends,

Rev John P. Gardner

It was a thrill to receive the news that following the worship service on November 3rd, the congregation voted to summon Nikki Shaw as FCUCC’s next Pastor and Teacher. I’m quite happy for the church, the Pastoral Search Committee, and for Nikki! I trust your time together will be mutually beneficial, and filled with adventurous ministry and engaging mission.

My time as your Transitional Minister will continue till the end of the year, through the first Sunday in January, 2020. This will provide time for Nikki to wrap up her work with Peace UCC, Fort Wayne, as well as to plan and prepare for her ordination service. So, you’ll have me around for yet a few more weeks, through Advent and Christmas.

In late November I will be away for the week of Thanksgiving to visit with family in California. The Rev. Doug Miller will be leading worship and preaching during my absence, which will be the first Sunday in Advent (Dec. 1). I’m grateful to Doug for his willingness to serve in our midst.

It is exciting to think about the future of the church, and the impact new leadership will bring into the vibrant ministry that exists at FCUCC. May God continue to provide “courage for today, hope for tomorrow” as we journey together as friends of Jesus.

Blessings,

John P. Gardner
